I've been told I am by a few overly sensitive people. Most of the time I'm being sarcastic, but I guess some of their under-developed teenage brains have issues comprehending sarcasm.

I think the word "edgy" and any submutations of said word are overrated as ♥♥♥♥. I get called "edgy" every day by people who literally want to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kill anyone who likes peanut butter.

When I was growing up, oys used to pretend to be uncaring to impress girls with how tought they were, girls used to act like complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to prevent their feelings from being known (and threfore vulnerable)
People in the 1950's-1960's too had similar concepts with a rebellious attitude to distinguish themselves from being children that obeyed parents and settling into a boring adulthood modeled by their parents.

There's nothing new, big, clever nor particularly mature about this phenomenon. It's just the word "edgy" is more colloquially fashionable in describing it. Eventually the adolescent learn how to cope with emotions and gain an understanding of the opposite sex through actually experiencing relationships and the ridiculous pretentiousness and false interpretations are revealed and dropped by those who mature adequately, or clung onto in desperation by a pitiful minority.

That's what I learnt as a kid and enjoyed... I never really got into the 'edgy' side of things.

However, to answer your question.

Words that are normally verbs can often be used as adjectives. "Edgy" is both a verb and adjective. "Edginess" is the correct noun, but sounds silly, so most just say "EdgeLord" instead. It's not correct grammer, but they are too edgy to care.

I write sad poetry about death and misery and heartbreak sometimes, and I do love horror stuff. I also tend to love the goth fashion as well as some rock music. But I take those things seriously, I don't just do it because it's a meme or whatever.

Sometimes I sarcastically say depressing stuff to close friends as a joke, but I wouldn't really call myself edgy. I think the term "edgy" is overused anyways.
