I believe it has a female singer. It has like acoustic strumming.

Song goes like this: (blank words) oh oooooh woah oh (blank words) and so on.

I don't know much about the song, but it is driving me crazy not to know this song.

Edit: I know it know. Its Back on the Chain Gang - Pretenders. My fault, its not acoustic, but 80's guitar.

I'd imagine there would not be many female acoustic songs that are popular, that fits my description.
