Poert forwarding is by definition the act of instructing the router to direct traffic mapped form one port to another.
Without access to the router configuration to perform these instructions, it's NOT possible.
An open port allows traffic through it. Having a port open can be a vulnerability, depending on which and how many ports you have open. As certain traffic is dangerous, from people who have bad intentions.

A goodrouter or even software firewall should allow you to specify and filter any combination of port, IP (local and server), process/service and if necessary protocol.
