Are shotguns overpowered in real life?
Nearly every game I have played, shotguns are very powerful, normally a one shot kill or injure, even to the legs, are shotguns really this powerful in real life? Or does the extreme recoil of shotguns make them NOT so powerful?

If you were to shoot someone that is five feet away from you in the chest with a shotgun, would it be as powerful as video games make them out to be?

P.S. I have shot a shotgun before but I haven't actually shot a person with one so that's kind of why I am asking this.

Well of course; you are in California, everything is illegal there. But in states like Georgia, they are legal. (Ya'll cant even have lead bullets!)

But they are banned for use in warfare, per the Hague Convention.

I'm just assuming you are talking to me.
Oh yeah sorry. Forgot to quote...
Shotguns are OP, but life won't nerf it.
Overpowered? Not sure what you mean by that. But they are deadly, especially at close range. My dad and I use slug shotguns for hunting, which rarely ever kills the deer immediately. There are a lot of factors that go into how quickly a target dies when shot, including where they're shot, at what range, and the type of ammunition used. Buckshot is not only ineffective from afar, but will spoil the kill.

Agreed. And "overpowered" is very subjective, like you said.
Lasers are better then bullets, and a rail gun is better then a laser gun.
Btw, my bud Donny owns a 32.20 and it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crazy, blew my arm back

Like the LAWS laser and the navy rail gun, both ship mounted. The rail gun surely is a bit more "powerful" than the laser.

When you say "Railgun" do you mean "Gauss Rifle"? Railguns are stationary on battleships and VERY heavy vehicles. Alsp, most lasers are experimental and couldn't be used by man on the battlefeild for many reasons
