I think we are forgetting the amount of tactics employed during the village defense (throughout the Kurosawa movie) in Seven Samurai.

It was meticulously planned and detailed, yet in every defense there had to be a weak spot, else the enemy wouldn't attack and would besiege the village and wear them out.

Like the main character said, defense is harder than offense.
Filmwise, 7 Samurai. It was a FAR superior film, although the Akō incident which 47 Ronin is based off of is a huge piece of Japanese historical culture and legend. I just found 47 Ronin to be an intensely bland piece. A;though, if I remember right, the miniseries they did in Japan in 2006 was actually pretty good.

ronin [roh-nin]noun, plural ronin, ronins. Japanese History.

1. a samurai who no longer serves a daimyo, or feudal lord.

Ronin were masterless samurai, they had nothing to do with China.
