Looking for Competitive Turn-Based game

I love to compete, always pushing myself further, especially in gaming. What I did notice recently is that even if I'm good at real-time competitive games like DOTA, OW or SC2, I don't enjoy them anymore.

What I'm looking for, is a turn-based competitive game PC only, best if tactics or strategy, similar to XCOM or even a quick Civilization, as long as a match can be done in 30-120 minutes. It's important that everyone has access to everything from the first minute, so no collecting of anything, or unlocks of new features. This means no CCG/TCG. It's important also that it's turn-based and not simultaneous, so even if OffWorld Trading and Duelyst are amazing, they are not what I'm looking for.

Thanks for the suggestion. Poured in a dozen hours when it was released, and it felt overwhelmingly complicated. Note: I love complex games, but complicated mechanics are what tire me. I'll just stick to 4X games...

I'd have pointed out Artifact (first tournament will have a $1M prize in Q1/2019), but you ruled out TCGs.

I'm afraid the Dominion games are OTT in terms of complexity. GrandStrategy/DwarfFortress level of inaccessible. I do not want to sit down the whole weekend watching youtube guides or reading the manual to understand the game. Beauty in simplicity is a lost art
