Repression is subduing something or someone by force. In the case of a connection between it and depression, it could also be the subduing of a certain thought or feeling.
Depression is a feeling of sadness and despondency.

You would be depressed if someone didn't answer your question.
Your feeling and memory of this horrible situation would be repressed... you would be depressed and you wouldn't know why.

Repression - The act of forcing/subduing something or someone.

- The kid's mother died in a horrible car crash, but he repressed it (blocking it out of his mind).

Depression - The act of dwelling upon negative topics, without knowing or looking for solutions.

- The kid was depressed from dwelling about his mother's death in a car crash.
