Debuggers do the

This topic was originaly specified for PC-88, but i have decided to brauden the topic to just Japan only PC Games from the early 1980s and onward.
Did you know, there was a PC-98 Megaten game from 1997. (偽典・女神転生 東京黙示録)

There used to be quite a bit of gameplay footage on youtube, couldn't seem to find it there

There was a 1999 remake for Windows 95/98, which dose have footage on youtube.

Never played either version before BTW.

Well from my understanding, many of the early Ys games aren't available on Steam, despite all of the modern games being available.

I would also like to see Fire-Emblem, but that's never going to happen.

I also think it would be funny to have a collection of Visual Novels from the 80s on Steam (Maybe a separate collection for VNs from the 90s?). Translated into English, and reworked to run on modern systems. It would be a cool showcase of how far that particular sub-industry of games has come, that is accessible for people who only Speak English, and don't know how to get old games to work on modern PCs.

Dont' worry, it will be figured out. Besides who knows if these companies (e.g. Falcom) even archived the data for their old games (e.g.Dinosaur). Otherwise, might as well rip the data from a pre-existing copy.
There was also a game for PC-98 called "4.6 Billion Year Story: The Theory of Evolution" (46億年物語 -THE 進化論) http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/46okunen/46okunen.htm

Never Played it for myself.
There was also a trilogy of MSX2 exclusive games that are across between a JRPG and a bord game by Compile

Rune Master (1989) ルーンマスター

Rune Master II (1990) ルーンマスターII

Rune Master III: War Amongst Three Kingdoms (1991) ルーンマスターIII: 三国英傑伝

Oooooo... what about this Space Harrier esque game called Alantia: Legend of Blue Star (アランティア) from 1988 http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/alantia/alantia.htm
But what about the Hydlide trilogy (queue the AVGN references)

Hydlide (ハイドライド) PC-88 ver., 1984

Hydlide II: Shine of Darkness (ハイドライドII) PC-88 ver., 1985

Hydlide 3: The Space Memories (ハイドライド3~闇からの訪問者~) PC-88 ver., 1987
There was this X68000 exclusive game from 1994, Geograph Seal. Based on some youtube videos i skimmed though, Virtually all of the text is in english despite only getting released in japan.
