why do I yawn when i sing?

i don't even have to be singing, i can be humming or lip syncing and i still yawn for no apparent reason

You need more practice. It's common to start yawning for those who haven't had professional singing lessons. Singing generally takes a lot of breathing and lung power. If your lungs needs more oxygen, you end up yawning. It'll take time before you'll be able to master this; but it can be done.

Because you have no diaphragm training, your body isn't used to the constant in and out of air, so is yawning to try and sort it out.

Great question and the answer is no one really knows, Various experiments have been carried out but a catalyst has yet to be found.
Some of the theories sound really good but they still fail to tie into why is yawning contagious.
