I don't really watch TV but you could play Eve Online, or Black Desert (doing some things but not others) while watching TV.

its an mmo but theres stuff to do besides combat like planting plants, etc
and nice physics for cars and boats

How do people play games while watching a TV showing something other than their games?

Occasionally Xcom, but in general it's none. I only watch movies for the most part. I listen to out of game music a lot too, but mostly in xcom.

You can build your own ship, of which there are some cool ones to choose from. Some of the skills are quite fun. But apart from this it is a horribly p2w, broken mmo that is suffering from the same problems that all Korean imports are. Dying, dirtbag community where the strongest guilds form alliances to monopolise content then complain there is nothing to do and no one to challenge them. It is fun to play for a while but unless you like the p2w mmo style and stupid community then I would stay away from it.

On topic, I have not watched TV for years, and if I did I would do one or the other not both.

watching tv while playing games sounds like something spoiled kid would do. it shows zero commitment to either and no real desire to do these. why do it then?
