You just lost it.
Is that all I have to say? Nope.
The characters were all just casual folk living their lives. They either worked jobs for their families or just minded their own bussiness about the government. They didn't expect such a huge disaster to happen and they want to fix it for the better.
One character's older brother hates her because they got in a fight that affected their relationship, and they were pretty close too.
Another character's best friend got lost and went insane after being stranded in the middle of a mission and he cannot remember anything other than his mission.
Lastly, yet another character's family became crystalized slaves to some huge interdimensinal crystal.
Sounds depressing doesn't it?
