Downloading steam games with IDM?

Hi guys, so the title is pretty self explanatory, can I or cannot use Internet Download Manager to download games at a faster rate than Steam's? If I can, I'd like to know how too. Thanks!

It's not 2007, but idm boosts SO MUCH the download speeds that steam offers to you even TODAY. It's a great software and is a shame that steam doesn't offer a way to download the games standalone. The download speeds are awful

It's 2019 and I'm still using IDM, you should try it out :D it's still better than normal download on steam though

How are you downloading Steam Games through IDM? Could you please share us?

not possible to use any external downloader to download steam games since its all built into steam client.

I find the download speeds to be perfectly fine though.

Yes, it is, just download a steam backup from almost anywhere and install in the steam library folder, delete any exe and dll, then hit download on steam, steam Will find the game and download only what's missing... (5/6 mb)
