What makes you think you got doxxed?
Astraea Kisaragi Jun 2, 2017 @ 5:28am
Well, assuming here on Steam you are displaying only so much information which you want to display yourself, it should be majorly your fault.

When somebody writes about me somewhere that I like tentacle hentai, then maybe because Im enough big of a masochist even to boast about it on my profile.

If you think other information like login/username/similar leaked, maybe it would be good to do a malware scan, change the password and add more secuity layers if you don't have it maxed yet (phone)

@tom. Well yesterday I had a chat with someone I tought was my friend on discord. we had a voice chat and then a few minutes later he leaves a message saying "thanks for the Doxx" and then vanishes. I check their steam "No user uses that URL" message appears.

@Astaea I don't know what he has on me thats my problem I kinda wanna call authorities but since I'm in canada I'm worried they consider it a false alarm and give me a ticket

What I don't get that exactly what makes you sure that they have compromising info about you?
Black Jun 2, 2017 @ 6:06am
I'm not sure. its what bothers me. I'm scared of what they could have. Like I honestly wouldn't want someone to come to my place and bust a cap on my skull

Yeah, doxxing is used as a scare tactic most of the time. You'll be fine, if they were planning on doing anything malicious they wouldn't have told you that they have your info.

I don't give that many information online really.
Black Jun 2, 2017 @ 7:05am
its thievery of information
WERElektro Jun 2, 2017 @ 7:14am
Did you do something wrong?
If you didn't , you should'nt have anything to worry about.
Most doxing victims are popular people who usually stand for some controversial opinion. That's dangerous for them and they end up getting death threats or worse.

Now... do you take part in discussions about controversial subjects? Or did anything that people could hate you for?
If not, you have got nothing to fear.

Yes, I got doxxed too. I saw one of my friend's friend CS:GO screenshots that shows leaderboard and what I saw in the leaderboard was someone's using my real name and profile picture in CS:GO's leaderboard screen. I was feeling suspicious that someone could have used it for Facebook and Instagram. So when I checked it, not only I was doxxed in Steam, I was doxxed in Facebook and Instagram too. Before I reported it, i've already posted the notice and screenshots and yeah I hope that they'll take action asap. If I were you, I would report and block the person who's doxxing you as well as report the fake profile on Steam, Facebook and Instagram. If it goes worse, I can report it to authorities if I needed to. So, my advice is never reveal your personal information too much even your gaming ID and info.
