In this case, The walking dead season 1.
I far more loved it seeing him play it and i havent spent a penny to get entertainment from the game.
In some cases, people get to review a game by watching a youtuber they like. Their opinions, their insight, and you can decide whether youd buy game or not.
Of course I fully understand that reason why some streamers/youtubers get early access. They are paid to promote the game and make game known before games actual public release. Its a win win for both of them!
And best part - you - as an end user, are just 1 click away from getting away from content you dont like! Knowledge is power.
I also enjoyed a few series with Cry, but you should really try playing the games yourself. You THINK that you're getting the full experience just by watching the content, but when you actually play the game yourself it's so much more compelling.(This only applies to games you haven't seen him play, once you watch something of his, it's ruined for you.)
Also with people like Cry I feel like that if he gets even more popular he'll start getting sued, which is weird because he often does bring his own unique commentary that enhances the experience and is probably within fair use.
Ah yes, they get what are called review copies do they not?
It does not really seem all that unusual of an business practice to me.
Because word of mouth was never a thing before YouTube.
