Graphics Card Choice!
Days ago, i finaly decided to replace my crappy EagleTech PSU for a XFX ProSeries 650W PSU XXX Edition Semi Modular probably around $103 in my country. Now, i want to buy a graphics card to replace my XFX Radeon HD 6670. My Budget is $250 and I was Thinking about Geforce GTX 660 or maybe Radeon HD 7850. I play Skyrim, Morrowind, Portal 2, Batman Arkham City (I want to play it using PhysX if possible, btw), Arkham Asylum, Sonic Generations and i also use 3DS Max and Mudbox from Autodesk. So what Video Card should i get in order to have good performance in the games and programs above?. My CPU is Intel Core i7 2600 Quad Core @ 3.4 Ghz, I have 8 GB of Drr3 RAM @ 1.333 Mhz and My MoBo is Gigabyte Z68M-D2H.

Thanks in advance.

*I am not planing to overclock

660 Ti will do the trick, and since ur wanting to use PhysX on Batman youd have to go the nVidia route anyway as ATI doesnt support it.

Pretty good match up with that CPU as well, just be sure to clean out the AMD Drivers 1st if you do get an nvidia card.

Ok, but unfortunatly, i can´t get a GTX 660 Ti, it's over $450 where i live, the GTX 660 is $298 (Yeah, prices are such a hell in Peru =,( )

Hmm.. well if theres a 2GB 660 thatd be the 1 to go for i suppose..

Be your best choice i guess if you need PhysX, if not then im sure someone can suggest an AMD card.

if u go to nvidia go to a gk104 card, they are:
- GTX 660 ti (<-ti is very important);
- GTX 670;
- GTX 680.
if you can't afford any of that, go for at least a HD7850.

What is the problem with GTX 660??? Isn't it better than a HD 7850??

I'm saving up for 2 GTX 660s for some SLI goodness. I truly believe that after I purchase these GPUs I'll never have to upgrade my GPUs ever again! 2GB on a GPU is future-proof for years to come especiallly at 1680x1050. I've found that a GTX 660 2GB is 70% faster than a GTX 460 1GB. Hell, even Battlefield 3 doesn't require me to use SLI. Crysis 3 probably will.

So, i thin i am going with GTX 660

Can you recommend me a brand of GTX 660?? Gigabye, Msi or EVGA??

i prefer eVGA myself, i have an eVGA 660 Ti, hate the cooler for it though but it cools decently enough.

Depends on your Case i suppose.. if your case has good cooling you can go for one of the 1s that has 2 or 3 open fans from MSI or Gigabyte n so forth.

Well, is not a GK104 based gpu, so IT IS worse than hd7850, go for ti always!

Asus, because Direct CU II that gives some extra room for "safe" overclock.

So, HD 7850 2 GB or GTX 660 2 GB. I think the 660 would be better since it performs better in the games i like and also has PhysX and CUDA.
Hovii 21 listopada 2012 o 11:11
GTX 660 Ti ftw!
Vexation 21 listopada 2012 o 15:26
660, no 660 ti, it's about $400 in my country. =(
e.LifeIsPeachy 21 listopada 2012 o 19:50
Then ur best bet would be to get a 650 ti .. depending how much that is in Peru lol..
Vexation 22 listopada 2012 o 14:24
No, gtx 650 ti defenitly no. It doesn't seem to ve a very good card. I think i am going with GTX 660.

Go with the 7850, or 7870 if you can find it on sale or even second hand. It's really good card. Just don't get a cheap PowerColor version. The cooling on them is amazing.
