Need a graphics card upgrade
Hello Steam community,
I would like to upgrade my graphics card for Christmas, and I wasn't what to get, that's not expensive, mainly around $40-130

Specs:
Desktop: HP Pavilion a730n
Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC, Grouper: Intel i915P/G
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 530 with 3.00GHz
Video Card: Intel 82915G/GV/910GL Express Family Chipset (4)
Monitor: V7-1440x900
RAM: 3 GB
Power Supply: AC input voltage (47-63Hz); 300 Watts
PCI: 3 slots
PCI express x16: 1 slot
DIMM: 4 slots

I found similar threads about my problem, and I found solutions like these:
XFX HD-465X-ZPF2 Radeon HD 4650 1GB 128-bit DDR2 AGP 8X HDCP Ready Video Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150433&cm_re=4650_agp-_-14-150-433-_-Product

Are those good graphics card to pick, without having to upgrade anything else? And does size matter?

Two of those three cards are AGP cards and they won't fit into the PCI-E x16 slot. All of them are discontinued and will probably never come back into stock.

Since your computer is 10 years old and your power supply is probably not the greatest anymore, I would probably opt for this.

SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6450 1GB 64-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card ( 100322L) $40[www.newegg.com]

I'm like... ♥♥♥♥♥ PLEASE! Intel is not for graphic cards! Just get the lowest in price Nvidia GTX, or GeForce. Make sure it has DirectX 11, Shaders 3.0, and PhsyX. That's all you need. Apart from more than 1GB.

For NVIDIA choices, I was choosing between the:

Geforce GT 630
http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-630

Geforce GT 620
http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-620

Geforce GT 610

They all require a PCIE 2.0 slot, but I'm not sure if the port in my desktop would be backwards compatible.

All those cards are not very good. Save a little money and buy at the very least a GTX 650ti, or save more and get a GTX 660. Make sure it is 'GTX' not 'GT'. All those cards you mentioned will struggle to play games. Save a little more and get something worth it, you will be dissappointed if you buy a GT630.

Actually, just saw your PSU and it is not very powerful. So, nevermind, you might not be able to go the route I was talking about. Sorry.

Lets try to keep in mind how old his comp is shall we?

a GT630 would do fine assuming the PSU isnt 100% terrible

What about the SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6450 1GB 64-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card ( 100322L)?

Honestly.. you should just save up some money if possible and buy a new comp.
That PC is really not worth upgrading.

Even a $300 Laptop is better then that thing..

If you really want to, that card should do fine.. but spending money on that comp is really not worth it imo.
