3TB hard drives are they reliable and are they ok for gaming?
I have 2 hard drives a 500GB hard drive that I am using for the OS and I have a 1TB hard drive that I am using for games. Only problem is its starting to get full. So my question is "3TB hard drives are they reliable and are they ok for gaming?"

Get an SSD!!!! But you might already have one.

just make sure its 7200rpm and 30-64mb cache and itll be ok

a ssd is ideal for a boot drive, and spinning drives are ok for games ect..

avoid green drives, they tend to sleep and will increase load times

What do you mean sleep? I put my PC in sleep mode overnight and have it set to go on to sleep mode when I am not using my PC. Do you think that is bad for a PC to go in and out of sleep mode a lot? Just wondering. I don't have a 'green' drive though.

No, when your computer goes to "sleep", it is really just turning off drives, minimizing processor consumption, and shutting off your screen (laptop).

green drives will automatically sleep after about 10-15min
(reguardless of any windows or software settings, its in the drives firmware)
and take 2-3 secs to wake up

annoying when playing games from them, and if windows is installed on it windows will pause while doing simple things

good 7200 rpm drives dont use much more power and are quicker
about a 4-8w diff when you have a 500-600w psu

I'm guessing you saw that $150 Seagate NCQ 64MB 7200 RPM 3TB drive. Why would you think they are bad for gaming? The larger a hard drive is, the faster your read/write speeds will be due to increased densities. You'll actually find SSDs don't help games at all when you have large drives like this, unless the game is not properly packaged.

Get two of those Seagate 3tb drives Raid 0 them, 6tb of space for games. SSD's are good for the OS.

Just upgraded to a 3 TB Seagate HD to handle my huge game library. It works fine and games load great. My OS is on an SSD.
