On cyberpower custom gaming pc website, I customised an Intel Core i7 3820 then below it gave me a choice for overclocking (not kidding) although it wasn't a K version of the i7 3820 it still gave me the choice for overclocking that CPU or not.
Yea alls you will need is an i5 Quad for gaming. Plus like HunterPure said it is a 'K' version, which means it is unlocked and you will be able to overclock. Even if you don't plan on overclocking, you might in the future and it is super easy.
But If you go onto cyberpower right now. Wait for it to load then on the right of the screen click on Intel Desktops then Intel Desktops again. Know scroll down to the third set of pcs which should say (i7 X79 PCs) then click on any of the four on that set. Make sure the CPU of that pc that you have chosen says i7 3820. If not then put that in, scroll down until you hit (Overclocking Service) then it will give you the choice for overclocking the i7 3820 even though its not a K version of that CPU.

Untrue K processors can overclock, doesn't mean non-K processors can't. The i7 3820 can in fact overclock, although the i5 would be better for gaming purposes.

True while non-'k" procs can overclock, 'k' procs have an unlocked FSB multiplier, which makes it a lot easier to overclock by just raising the mulitplier. Im pretty sure you can get 'k' procs a lot higher more safely.

And also, build the PC yourself, I see you're visiting CyberpowerPC.com. You will pay an extra 25% where you could save building yourself, as their PSUs and cases are quite low quality. Plus overclocking is something that takes a few seconds (albeit more time to get a good stable clock), and it's free and so easy that it's ridiculous to buy the extra service for it. So if you are going to buy a prebuilt PC anyways, overclock it yourself, just remember to get an aftermarket cooler.
If u do not care about pricing then go with the i7 else i5 since there is very little performance difference in gaming

You guy had made little mistaken. It is ture non K series can't overclock that well but that is just LGA 1155 series chip. i3 LGA 1156 is much fastest and high overclock than i3 LGA 1155. Some LGA 1155 motherboard can overclock non-K series but it need have special feature. Also i7 3820 can overclock since it have part unlock.
The i7 would be great for gaming, but the i5 would be great too. The i7 would be better in things such as video rendering. I say go for the chip that will last you longer as in life time and tihnk about the cost. (Also the i7 wont overclock because it has a locked multiplier)

When i had an i7 930 2.8Ghz i ran it all it's life 24hrs a day at 4.2Ghz you just need a good motherboard, i had a Gigabyte UD5 Extreme (dam fine board), now i have an i7 3930K C2 so i can just bump up the multi but with 6 cores @ 3.2Ghz (12 with HT) i dont bother.

OP there both good for gaming i7 will pull ahead in converting files, compressing videos ect.

Surely, I7-3829 have part unlock multiplier.
From what I hear I5 is better for gaming
The performance between the two would be near negligible. Save yourself some money and go Ivy Bridge(3570k) instead of SB-E(3820). Look here[www.anandtech.com] Scroll down for the games. There was no selection for a 3570k, but a 2500k is only about 5-7% slower clock for clock with a 2500k. You can see a 2500k nearly matches the 3820 in every game.
Abit of info the Hyper Threading will not help in a purely gaming environment if you are hoping to use it for that give up on the i7 but if you branch out in to other things like rendering videos & 3D modeling then go for the i7
