Bargain hunting: 550 Ti vs 7750
I'm looking for a very cheap graphics card that will let me play new games. The choice is basically nVidia 550 Ti or ATI 7750. I am considering the Radeon more because it is slightly cheaper and does not need extra power. My PSU is not equipped with an extra cable for graphics cards, so I don't know if it would be even possible to use the 550?

If you know of a card that's cheaper than the 7750 and performs better, please share.

One of the better options out there.

go with 7750 it has better peformance and dosn't need any power
Get a 560/6870 for slighly more. It will bea lot faster
Like I said. It's on a budget. I don't have more than the equivalent of $100. Will 560 run without a power line on a 400W PSU?

probably not
most say they need a 450w
you may need more depending on how many drives and your cpu wattage ect..
Well then, if the card you suggest is not going to work with PCI-E power and 400W then obviously I will not buy it. I just want a better graphics card and don't have the money for a $200 card and a new PSU and more ram, and a better case fan, and a bettwe CPU, and a better motherboard etc.
i have a 550ti it only needs 1 cable and works with bf3 on max setting res 1440x990 it's a good card for the price it's silent and doesn't over heat i noticed a hgue differnce cuz i had a 8800gts
It needs 1 cable for graphics cards, or will the cable for hard drive work too?

pci power connector

some older cards came with a molex adapter

I don't have two free molex cables to convert them to pci power. So 7750 is the only choice from what I see.
AMD is pretty much the best choice in lower power consumption and cheaper graphics card, they dominate the low end sector (as well as high end and workstation/scientific sector) quite nicely.

I hope it helpful. PCIe use 150 watt, PCIe power 6 pin use 75 watt and PCIe power 8 pin use 150 watt. And serious I think OP is asked for choose bewteen GTX 550 or 7750. The extra power is called PCIe power cable. It seem there have been some misunderstand. My best bet is this video card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150612

Also I don't recommend this two molex to PCI power connector http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/pcie6.jpg Since it is risk of burn wire and power supply.
There was no misunderstanding. I just found 550 and 7750 to be the best cards I can get for my current money. Then I realised that 550 needs additional power. I was not sure if it is possible to somehow get that without buying a new PSU. It seems that it is not possible to get 550 to work without a PSU with PCIe cables. This leaves me with 7750 as my only choice.

I bought this card. I hope 10cm will be quiet because my current GPU was completely fanless.

No, it is not possible to use GTX 550 Ti without PCI power. So 7750 is best choose for you. Gigabyte is great video card with 2 oz copper and power effect. Also I just adviced to not use two molex to PCI power.
ati are cheap but the nvidia cards are mutch better cards way better quallity
