First of all, MSI Afterburner is FREE. It has an awesome video codec, awesome 16 threaded compression fomat so it is always fast and therefore won't lag your game if you have a multicore processor (the more cores, the better), and works in all 3D programs. You can also use it to record your desktop. As well, unlike FRAPS, it doesn't split your files into multiple 4GB AVI containers, it keeps everything in one convenient AVI container.
Fraps has always worked on anything I apply it to; I have never had any issues recording 3D applications.
Fraps does this.
Fraps doesn't do that (by default, anyway; you can enable it if you want to).
