Motherboard : Gigabyte AMD AM4 B550M DS3H (v. 1.7)

CPU : Ryzen 7 3700X

GPU : Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 12Go

RAM : 2 x 16Go G.Skill 2400MT/s

Since I jumped to PC with my build, it's been performing absolutely stellar.
Ryzen 9 7950x [CPU]
Cooled by Corsair H170i 420mm AIO
RX 7900XTX [GPU]
64GB Corsair 6,000mhz DDR5 RAM
2TB Corsair SSD
E-ATX X670E AORUS Master Motherboard
Be Quiet! BN517 Power Supply 1200w PSU
Lancool III case
Main PC
CPU: Intel Core i5-10400F
Cooler: Stock cooler
Motherboard: MSI B460M-A PRO
RAM: 2x16GB DDR4-3200MT/s CL16 (capped at 2667 MT/s because of CPU)
GPU: MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti
PSU: be quiet! System power 10 750W 80+ Bronze
SSD: Silicon Power 4TB UD90
HDD: Seagate 1TB
Seagate 1TB
Seagate 2 TB
Speakers: Creative Pebbles Plus 2.1 USB Desktop Speakers with Subwoofer
Monitors: AOC Q27G2S 1440p @ 165Hz
Lenovo L24e-20 1080p @ 60Hz
Some offbrand 1440p @ 60Hz
Sharp SHP3700 1080p @ 60Hz

The main PC was a prebuilt but I have upgraded quite a few parts in it to a bit better ones. There’s most certainly better parts I’d want and need for what I use my PC for but so far it will do.

Second PC (for testing)
CPU: Core 2 Duo E8400
Cooler: Stock cooler
Motherboard: Asus P5Q-PRO
RAM: 2x2GB DDR2 800Mhz
GPU: Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT 1GB or PNY NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT 512MB
PSU: LC Power 600W
SSD: 6 x 128GB SATA III
Monitors: AOC 1080p @60Hz

The second PC is for testing and geeking out, it has 2 RW CD/DVD Drives since I burn CDs for whatever reasons and I can’t have them on my main PC. SLI sadly doesn’t work because the motherboard doesn’t support it but I do switch between the 2 graphics cards even though they are pretty much the same. I test various old Windows and Linux operating systems because it’s much easier to than on my main.

Highly recommend upgrading your CPU if you can get a 5950X for really cheap either at retail or second hand, I went from a 3900X to a 10850K and saw pretty big gains in gaming performance with a 2080 Ti, and a 5950X is even faster

3950X is guaranteed to hold back your 4070 Ti SUPER by quite a bit, all of Zen2 was known to bottleneck the 2080 Ti which is much slower

I don't think so. The CPU and GPU perfectly fit eachother. (a 4070 absolutly should be able to get max performance with that CPU. I bet you 'll even have CPU power left).

Zen2 was known to bottleneck the 2080 Ti, even at 2160p resolution in some instances, and it's over 40% slower than the 4070 Ti SUPER.

GamersNexus found that to be the case in benchmarks years ago, and I found the same thing myself when going from a 3900X to a 10850K yielded upwards of 30% more performance at 1080p, with a 2080 Ti. Still over double digit gains at 1440p with a much weaker GPU than what wolfkord has.

They don't compliment themselves that well, Zen3 is a much better match for Lovelace. I was making a suggestion because I've seen first hand how limiting the first generation R9 processors actually were due to latency and low frequency compared to the 5900X and 5950X.

 allright.

It's not that I don't understand, but that's way too deep into the topic for me. Nice information!

* backs out slowly :steamhappy:
That's just unnecessary and inappropriate to make false hurtful statements about people (which is also against forum rules), all I did was give sound advice that would lead to better overall performance without any drawbacks if they find one on sale or second hand. Benchmarks don't lie.
Seriously? He just made a suggestion and called him a troll for absolutely nothing. Also processors like i7 5820K from 2014 will be good for running games.

Anyway, if you're fine with the FPS you're getting, you don't need to upgrade. If you want then you have to think about how many cores you actually need because there are 3 CPUs that are great in their own way on this platform and of course we are not talking about OCing.

5950X - the best in multi-core
5900X - the best in single core
5800X3D - the best in L3 cache.
(There are also models with similar namings, so watch out.)
