5800XT doesn’t exist, 5000 only went up to 5700XT

glad to see that people are still using that CPU for gaming
wish the current higher end Intel CPUs are as efficient as those during the 2010s from the first gen i7 up to Kaby Lake
I do agree that modern CPUs (and Intel more than AMD) are throwing so much wattage at things that they are trading off efficiency for a very slim extra amount of performance, but they're still more efficient than those old CPUs.

Efficiency isn't just about peak wattage. It's also about how much performance you get from that wattage, and if it you can can complete a given task faster than an older CPU, it could draw lower wattage overall.

If you're going to say they're less efficient for the higher power draw, then the first generation Core i7 does not belong in with the rest in that group. It sometimes vastly increased power draw compared to the Core 2 before it. Sandy Bridge was a return to better efficiency, and the stuff after had the benefit of being able to stagnate on four cores for so long because Intel had little competition at the time. I wouldn't compare it apples to apples to modern stuff.

Those intel quad core i7s were very efficient compared to their AMD alternatives while being faster.
The same can't be said about the current i7s/i9s when compared to the comparable AMD cpus.
I wasn't comparing i7 4790K with i7 14700K. The latter is obviously more efficient even though it consumes way more power.

I got low budget PC, kinda okay for some decent games on lowest graphics, gta v is running fine on lower graphics but some newest games can't run well even on lowest settings, but it's not big deal cuz we didn't get gta vi yet :)

OS:
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

CPU:
Intel Core i5-2500 quad core 3.30GHz

GPU:
Gainward GeForce GTX 650 1gb GDDR5 128-bit

RAM:
Kingston 8gb (4gb x2) DDR3 Dual-Interleave

Motherboard:
Dell Optiplex 990

Storage:
SSD: 120gb - Patriot Burst Elite
HDD: 500gb - Western Digital WDC WD5000AAKS-00V1A0
(i'll have to upgrade to at least 2tb or something, cuz 500gb is not enough for me)

PSU:
MS PRO 550W ATX P4

Monitor:
1280 x 1024 5:4 VGA (yeah i still use vga)

Mic:
Trust GXT 232 Mantis

Is DDR5 still that bad about stability at times with a lot of RAM? Are you having to run those four DIMMs of 16 GB at 3,600 MHz? Because I'm running 3,600 MHz on four DIMMs of 16 GB on DDR4, and all of my DIMMs are dual rank on top of that (chance yours might be as well, but I think 16 GB DIMMs should be single rank on DDR5 by now, and either way that's a concerning low speed and doesn't bode well for me when I move to DDR5 whenever AMD's new CPUs release).

DDR5 is stable up to 6000mhz if I remember correct.
4 Sticks can still be ran in dual rank.
I use 4 sticks of 16gb at 3600mhz with a ryzen 7 5800x3d and it's stable.
Also ram stable differs from motherboard to motherboard.
Cause no same part is made equal.
