Could anyone please recommend a relatively low cost PC build, I'm new to PC gaming and don't have lots to spend. I don't mind if the parts are old just as long as it can run games on poor or low settings.

DM me if possible (:

Steam Deck might be your best option.

Wait a sec, why are you risking a good build like yours with a PSU that is NOT what is recommended, like a good 850W PSU? I know that's a Platinum rated PSU, but it's still below the what is generally accepted as recommended. I believe there are SFF Plat/Gold rated PSU's that are rated at 1000W.

When I built my main rig in 2019 (just before the big 'C') I'd gotten the HX1000 Plat for an R9 3900X + VEGA64 build, I knew I was gonna upgrade, so I'd opted for it. I knew it'd be more than powerful enough to handle the upgrades I'd had planned. And it's doing a bang up job with my present upgraded rig.

850w? the person should be running at best a 1000w for a 4090, from what i know, 4090 power spikes cause the pc's to crash while gaming, not only from experience, but complaints about them as well.

also, someone i personally know bought a prebuilt and it came with a 850w, crashed every time the person played a game, swapped it with a 1000w corsair i had sitting around cause i remembered hearing about the power spikes and the pc never crashed again.

that being said and as mentioned, went 1000w (corsair rm 1000x and the current one is a corsair hx 1000i) even for a my older setup with a 6950x (had a 6850k) and a rog strix 1080, with a bunch of storage drives, ect.., i honestly would rather not skirt the line of power limits of a smaller power supply and use something that leaves room for fluctuation (if any) and have room for more power needs later on, pretty much overkill for my hardware, but also less wear on the power supply as well.

I'd said 'recommended' but I did mention that there are good 1000W SFF PSU though. The 'recommended' psu for my RX 7900 XTX is 750W to 850W, but I did get a 1000W PSU, I'm a believer of 'more than enough' or overpowered PSU to 'recommended' or 'just enough' PSU.

1000W is only required if you have an inefficient CPU like 13900K
850W is more than enough for 5800X3D/7800X3D and 4090

The thing is, for such a high spec'ed rig, why scrimp on an 850W PSU when the 1kW PSU is priced a little more? For me, more than 'recommended' is what I aim for...

if you say so, i guess everyone who ran 850w because of recommendations and found their pc shutting down because the 4090 would power spike past the psu's power limit, are wrong.

guess the person that i literally had to replace his 850w psu with a 1000w cause of 4090 power spikes shutting down his pc, must be incorrect as well...

also, so far, seems like newegg is recommending 1000w for 4090's (or whoever the seller(s) is).

nah, 850w is not enough, 1000w is though.

its not a 3090/3090Ti

https://www.techpowerup.com/img/5wTpTV9WTdU7ZlZe.jpg
In the chart above, NVIDIA shows how current spikes get mitigated by their new VRM design, which uses a PID controller feedback loop. While the RTX 3090 bounces up and down, the RTX 4090 stays relatively stable, and just follows the general trend of the current loading pattern thanks to a 10x improvement in power management response time. It's also worth pointing out that the peak power current spike on the RTX 3090 is higher than the RTX 4090, even though the RTX 3090 is rated 100 W lower than the RTX 4090 (350 W vs 450 W).

please show a video of someone with 5800X3D/7800X3D and a good 850W PSU experience shutdowns because of transient spikes.
