Add in card, though few AM3 even support that.
So, the very top of the line, singular best, 990fx board from Gigabyte had a single native m.2 on board, as did most of the other $1,000+ flagship 990fx top boards of the time. But due to how new the tech was, how pricey for the time it was and all that, and the other limitations of the AM3+ platform, it was quite literally reserved for single models from the few makers who supported it.
Some would leave the BIOS support for nvme add in cards as well, but most of them used the m.2 feature as a locked in upsell to give added value to the flagship 990's and thus most motherboard vendors locked the ability to even boot from PCIe add in cards on nvme.
Now days, at least for 990FX Gigabyte users, most of the worth-while boards have had modded BIOS files created by the community that restore the nVME support and allow bootable add in cards to be used.

except the razer keyb and mouse i have no RGB, and that is how i like it.
im pretty happy with my current setup, to give some context. i do not have other hobby's outside of my gaming and save some of my money for this purpose.
My latest upgrade was the VR headset, went from reverb G1 to the G2.
i would like to change my keyboard, mouse and headset next because i had them for 5-6 years now and i feel it is time to get something new.
for a keyboard i am set on the Keychronn Q6.
as far as mouse and headset go, i am still researching, and am open to suggestions.
that is about it i think,

Just got done with the board swap. This 12700kf / Z690 is a BEAST, and I highly recommend it. Asrock board is rock solid, once you get the BIOS set up right. RAM running at rated speed, even!

It's about pushing the limits. I overclocked all my components, even managing to match my old Ryzen 9 5950X despite having a significantly inferior CPU. Overclocking is a fun journey, and I'll share my adventure in a forum post later.

I'd tweaked the Windows 10 64 bit taking the precaution that my 4690K which was manufactured 2014 would process well with RTX games.
On the Forums some said that the 4690K wouldn't pair well with a 2060 RTX yet the dedicated video memory is 12 gigs and the Total Available Graphics Memory 20.45 gigs.
System Ram on the Z97-E motherboard is 16 gigs.
I'd played Gotham Knights with Ray-Tracing and Shadows on its highest setting at a 4K resolution with a FPS of 40 to 50 frames per second.
As of this year Jan. 4th 2023 all opinions and theories went down the toilet.
Was initially gonna go for a gpu during 2022, but crappy pricing changed that.
Been playing most of my stuff @ 4K regardless (just with lower settings) and prefered to update the whole platform instead of gpu (coming from i7 3770/ z77 MSI mobo/DDR3 2133).
Depending on pricing (at the time of purchase) it will be between RX 7900xtx/rtx 3080ti (first choice, or RX6950xt/3080 (2nd choice)
The combination between RTX 3060 Ti and Intel Core i7-3770 @ 3.40GHz has less than 15% bottleneck in many games and can cause minor FPS loss.
Ultra Quality Settings: 115.5 FPS Average 1080p Performance.
87.6 FPS Average 1440p Performance.

Then put 16 gigs on the Motherboard.
