Nothing wrong with a GTX 970 and your CPU, GTX 970 is ~GTX 1060 performance

No they are not. Even with DX11 they barely are holding up with the 3GB version of a GTX 1060 3GB and at DX12 they getting stomped. Nothing clsoe to even a GTX 1060 6GB.

With the latest drivers since a half year the GTX 970 cant hold up with a GTX 1060.
From benchmarks I've seen the 1060 3gb is a little worse than the 970 but the 6 gb model a little better-not bothered though

I've got both the 3GB and the 6GB; that's about right in terms of performance; 1060 3GB is ~970/780 performance and 1060 6GB is ~780Ti/980 performance on average. And they are both great cards for 1080p gaming in either DX11 or DX12. Here's benchmarks from techspot from May 25th of this year: https://www.techspot.com/review/1410-gtx-970-radeon-390-years-later/. BLUF: GTX 970 22 game average FPS: 75, GTX 1060 3GB: 78, GTX 1060 6GB: 86, O/C GTX 970: 84.
