I am letting you know about your ram. I had that ram with DDR3 and DDR4 and both died pretty fast so warning about using XMP for long term. Also I don't recommend overclocking that ram at all. Side note I would have a back up Ram kit for when that ram fails. I was lucky to get around 8 months or so then it dies out. Just letting you know.
Also I would move away from windows 7 cause steam is dropping support for it in Jan 2024.
Either dual boot win 7 and win 10 or greater. Or fully use win 10 or greater.

Cheers for the tip. I lowered the frequency to 3200MHz, which should be enough and keep my rig even more low profile this way (gaming @4K for 100+/- watt is pretty decent I think).

I was originally looking for the best ram kit for my platform which is Trident-Z 3200CL14, but it was either too expensive or unavaible. Got the ballistix very cheap back then, that's why.

I think Crucial are stopping the Ballistix ram because of too many issues.

Sometime in the winter, when house is too cold, remove the undervolt for both cpu and gpu, and even unlock PBO, and plays as much as I can in 4K so it warms up the room, and full undervolt in the summer ^^

If win 7 does not run past January, it will be a good occasion to get an SSD and install Linux and maybe win 10 in dual boot if I can't run all my games.

I'll keep my win 7 setup for retro gaming, as I have 30years worth of game collection on this setup (from 90's floppy disk games till recent titles), even though I play less and less ^^

This way I should get best of both world.

Do know have knowledge on SSD? I'm hesitating between samsung 970 Evo 2Tb, and Crucial MX500 (which is sata). My main concern is temperatures, longevity and ability to copy big amount of files.
I would go for samsung 970 Evo I gone threw a few Crucial MX500 SSD. I had 8 and now I have 1 and that is over a 2 year span.

So why would retro gamings only work for win 7 when it is alike as win 10 and 11? You should be able to play retro games on Win 10 and 11.

Wrong not all my retro games will work on win 10 or 11.
PS many of the retro games I am talking about is not sold on steam.

If retro games worked on win 7 then it should work on win 10 and 11 too. They are 64 bits. I cant speak for anyone claimed retro games only work on 7, not 10 or 11. But I can swear that I never heard any retro games that worked on Win 7 doesn't work on win 10 and 11.

If it runs on Windows 7 it'll usually run on Windows 10/11 just about as well because the OS hasn't changed that much since Windows 7 did so well in the long run and lasted so long as a result.

I've yet to come across a game that runs on 7 but doesn't run on 10 because of the OS itself. 9 times out of 10 when someone claims it doesn't run on 10, someone else gets it running on 10 with minimal effort.

Also that's not really how PCI-e support works. AMD initially planned on giving firmware-side PCI-e 4.0 support but it's only partial support and does not have the actual bandwidth. The hardware itself (the slot) is still only PCI-e 3.0 with a bandwidth limit on par with 4.0 x8 when running a 16 lane card, which is part of why AMD scrapped that plan for B450 and X570, aside from the fact that vendors would've had to cut legitimate features out of their microcode for a pseudo-feature. It's nothing more than a placebo.

PCIe 4.0 does not work for graphic card, but for the first Nvme slot, bandwidth works as expected.

What works on win 7 does not on win 10 otherwise I would have stick with it. I had one out of 2 .iso that would either bug/crash or not launch. I'd say only 60% of what runs on 7 runs on win 10 (I mean one of the 17 versions of win 10) out of the box, which was too annoying to manage, that's why I ditched win 10. Dual boot is already annoying sometime, and triple boot, well, I was never booting win 10 because 0 interest in dx12 titles, and genrally slower perf on my rig. As surprising as it may sound, linux runs better old 32 bit games than win 10. But most programs and old games don't run on it at all, and when they do run there are often data corruption/bug that make the game impossible to complete... But I got use to it. Except vista which was running almost everything from XP outside of Microsoft's own games like age of empires 2 xD It's a tradition from Microsoft, to have regressive downward compatibilities. With all the mystics of people thinking ticking a box of compatiliblity on the executable will make it run... which never ever worked. Except for few titles which are exclusive to win 10 but runs on vista's framework fondation.

Sorry for digressing btw.

I hope you are rolling cause SLI died after RTX 30.
If you have 2 and usng 2 you are really only using one cause 40 series does not support NVLink or SLI.

Then you should know there is no NVLink or SLI finger on the gpu.
And the old hack for SLI support is now dead and too bad Nvidia killed that hack.
I remember pairing old None supported SLI cards and used the hack and take about a performance jump.
That trick is now dead.

And? They were never alluding to running SLI or even having two cards, you just aren't up to date on GPU model names and just assumed that they'd be stupid enough to buy two 4070s in this day and age when they could've bought a 7900-XTX or 4080.
