Somehow missed this thread until now...

Here's my modest but makes me happy primary desktop PC. The pictures are old by many many years, but my desk place looks the same other than the lamp being gone (and the PC internals have changed and it no longer has the ODD) so I'm lazily reusing it. I do need to get an up to date picture of the PC itself inside though as I don't have one.

I like the flowers. And you have a nice carpet.

But the Wall colour? what were you thinking....

I actually don't mind the colour, it's vibrant, not plain.

Wow, I seem to be in pretty good company now.
After using my old Intel Q9550 quad core, 8 gigs DDR2, and various vid cards in a Gigabyte EP45-DS3L mobo for 12 years, I figured it was high time for a new build. Although Steam didn't complain, the games did sometimes. SO, I had my 66th birthday coming up, and gave myself the new system as a present to myself! I quite enjoyed pushing the power button the morning of my bday and... the BadMoonRYZEN fired right up.

Overclock your RAM; highest DRAM frequency and lowest latencies you can muster. You're leaving performance off the table because Ryzen 3000's sweet spot for RAM is 3600 CL16. (Max 3800 MHz supported by fabric)

Mainly what Escorve said. I've usually had White, off-White, or Blue shade rooms, so I wanted to try something different that wasn't too unsaturated, but I wanted to stay with a light/bright color and not something dark. My other choice was something like Turquoise (sort of a Blue/Green mix), but as I said, I've had enough Blue growing up (but usually lighter/Sky Blue, which is why I entertained it). Wasn't sure Green was something I'd like as it probably wouldn't be as bright, and I'm not much a fan of Red (I like Yellow or Orange better for warm colors). I get the color is a bit bright/saturated for some people but I wanted to try it and it never ended up bothering me.

But yeah, that carpet was incredible. It was really comfortable and held up. It didn't wear in pretty much ever and never shed itself, etc.

I'm not living there anymore, and am renting now, so I'm missing it even more. I don't mind the boring wall colors, but this carpet is not the same. After two years and it's already wearing out (and I treat it well, don't walk on it with shoes, etc.).

Wow.

My HTPC currently has a Q9550 and 8 GB DDR3 RAM (and a modest GT 1030).

My current PC has a Ryzen 7 3700X, 64 GB RAM, and a GTX 1060. We even almost match down to the loads of storage drives, even down to the AMOUNT of them, though you're entirely on SSDs whereas most of mine are HDDs (and I've ditched the ODD now). Biggest difference otherwise is I'm on a single monitor.

So I can pretty much literally imagine the jump you just made. I had a system between my old Core 2 Duo (not the Quad currently in the HTPC) with 8 GB DDR2 that was... back in 2009 so I didn't make that jump myself (I had a Core i5 2500K between them)... but I HAVE systems comparable to both of yours right now, so wow.

Hope you enjoyed it, sounded like you deserved it and truly waited until it was warranted (slight ramble, but while I believe anyone should upgrade if they want to, I also think of how much waste this may create, though I suppose the faster hardware improves, the more people will need to/want to move up and the more software will demand more, so it makes sense).

Fantastic!
Glad to see another 60+ here!
I just did the same not so long ago. Loving my new build. Did you do it or had it done for you?
I took the plunge and built mine. Been 10 + years also.
My build is on my profile
( also here...somewhere, lol)
How's that E-Z dock?
Was thinking about that so I could make room for a future custom loop.
Cheers!!!
