Also I would move away from windows 7 cause steam is dropping support for it in Jan 2024.
Either dual boot win 7 and win 10 or greater. Or fully use win 10 or greater.
Cheers for the tip. I lowered the frequency to 3200MHz, which should be enough and keep my rig even more low profile this way (gaming @4K for 100+/- watt is pretty decent I think).
I was originally looking for the best ram kit for my platform which is Trident-Z 3200CL14, but it was either too expensive or unavaible. Got the ballistix very cheap back then, that's why.
I think Crucial are stopping the Ballistix ram because of too many issues.
Sometime in the winter, when house is too cold, remove the undervolt for both cpu and gpu, and even unlock PBO, and plays as much as I can in 4K so it warms up the room, and full undervolt in the summer ^^
If win 7 does not run past January, it will be a good occasion to get an SSD and install Linux and maybe win 10 in dual boot if I can't run all my games.
I'll keep my win 7 setup for retro gaming, as I have 30years worth of game collection on this setup (from 90's floppy disk games till recent titles), even though I play less and less ^^
This way I should get best of both world.
Do know have knowledge on SSD? I'm hesitating between samsung 970 Evo 2Tb, and Crucial MX500 (which is sata). My main concern is temperatures, longevity and ability to copy big amount of files.
