Everyone is better off on LGA1700 than AM5, Intel has the better platform. 12400 matches the 5600X, 12600K takes on the 5800X.
It's interesting that you're waiting but recommending an upgrade asap to others
Both have pro's and con AMD is better for workstation and gaming but Intel is better for gaming. But on a overall basis the AMD is better because for say the 5950X is great at both gaming and work stuff, were as the i9 12900K is more just for gaming.
Doubtful he'll have any bottleneck issues.
Why settle for 'good enough' when you can buy the best for the same price or less?
Yep, well said.
Don't expect radical performance gains.
Do expect a lot of 5's in their marketing.
3%, it mattered when AMD did it, but not now? Okay.
And, Intel doesn't cost more, and certainly won't cost more than AM5 platform.
Weren't you doing exactly that by telling the guy he NEEDED to upgrade?
The i9 12900k is better than the 5950x in pretty every way. Gaming and workstation uses.
In the places it's not better, it's on par with.
The 5950X has 8 extra and that makes a difference for a workstation, i9 12900K only has 24 threads. Also the 5950X has more l3 Cache another plus.
It makes a huge difference in work base environments.
Care to share an example where the 5950x does better? Or are you using the logic of 'muh cores do mores'?
Please share evidence to substantiate your claim.
