Ahh a good ol 640. I have the slightly faster model. They can OC well ;)

When I had a 7860K I was able to get almost a whole GHz out of an OC. Too bad it was still crap.

I mean... Crap is all subjective. At the time in my life that I was rocking that chip as main I was living paycheck to paycheck back at parents and rebuildint a life from litterally nothing. I traded off 3xdual core chips for a cash-less transaction to get the quad core to go with the HD7870 I had.

It was enough to play GTA-V, BF3 and 4, Skyrim, and most other games of the 2010-15 era just fine (though by no means great (or high refresh) but still playable and stable).

It bridged me from `11 to `14-ish when I went to a 4790k.

Its not like the chip *cant* be used to game. It works just fine for 30-60fps in most titles except ~2018 and newer, things like the BF series for eg, 3 is fine, 4 is OK but you need to stick to 24/32 player servers, BF1/5 are no go just due to how heavy they are on the system regardless of GPU/Rez.

I had really bad stuttering, it was an APU slower than FX-6xxxx

Needs some work, but yeah, AMD proved that NVIDIA intentionally locked down DLSS to RT hardware by proving that all GPUs can have access to an entirely software based counterpart that does a pretty good job doing the same thing.

Problem is getting support for it, AMD doesn't seem to be too keen on adding support to games that already support DLSS yet.

Power spikes with Ampere would be too much for a 550W, and there's nothing wrong with having extra wattage for future upgrades.

Changed the power supply to 650W which is enough, even for any future upgrade. 850W is when you use two GPUs lol
