Surprise!

https://valid.x86.fr/xcue4x

That 220 watt tdp is BS I think. Mine only uses like 35-130 watt. Probably my motherboard only supplying way less.

I'm using g-sync setup and -hdr. I'm using this until I get around to finishing my 12600k build. I'm not very excited about the CPU contact frame business.

AMD TDP has always been thermal watts, has nothing to do with power consumption numbers.

This CPU isn't as terrible as I was prepared for. It's actually running my rtx 2060 12g, which is surprising. I was expecting a huge bottleneck.

It even accepted a small undervolt. It also supports ECC memory function, unlike the fx 8350. Windows 11 loves this CPU.

I didn't realize how much better the fx 9590 is when compared to other fx chips. This has turned out to be a decent CPU.
Thermal Design Power (TDP) is measured in watts though.

You sound confused.

Not hardly. Like I said it's measured in watts.

Still shouldn't undervolt the CPU as it could stressed a driver. It would be better to keep within the safe voltage at a minimum voltage.

Normally I'd agree with you, but these chips are binned for high leakage. Which means they are ideal for an exotic refrigerated cooling system.

I don't have such a cooling system so I'm dealing with the leakage by undervolting. My results are incredible.

fx 9590 is 4 core and 4 threads.
It's actually not though. It even says in your link lol 😆
I know what they use dude 😎 what I'm saying is your link says 8c/8t.

https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2019/8/28/20837336/amd-12-million-false-advertising-class-action-lawsuit-bulldozer-chips

AMD this month has agreed to pay compensation that totals $12.1 million to users who purchased FX-8000/9000 CPUs via its website or in the state of California. The case comes down to AMD advertising these processors as having 8 cores, and the claim that a shared FPU unit within a 'dual core' module does not constitute an actual core of performance similar to a separate core/FPU unit. Users who qualify for the compensation are estimated to recieve in the region on $35, depending on the exact uptake, and no one person can claim more than $7500.

AMD’s Bulldozer microarchitecture used 'dual-core modules' containing two independent ALUs and a shared FPU. AMD believed that such design allowed it to call its FX-8000 and FX-9000 series processors as the industry’s first eight-core desktop CPUs, yet the latter were quite often behind their quad-core rivals from Intel in terms of performance. As a result, a group of people from California filed a class action suit that accused AMD of false advertising back in 2015.
But that's still not 4c/4t 😎 that's 4c/8t. You said 4c/4t.

That is not what I'm talking about. Leakage has nothing to do with it, but current does. As you reduced voltage then it required a bit more current for a driver. As result, undervolt could stressed a driver with more current to keep provide called out lower voltage.

Undervolt mean outside the intended voltages range and it is a bad idea.
