Geforce GT 610 lag issues
I know that the GT 610 is the low end graphics card, but I was upgrading (believe it or not) from an AMD Radeon 5700 series. I'm currently enjoying FFXIV ARR and I scored higher with the AMD then the GT 610. I've uninstalled everything and anything AMD/ATI, updated drivers for GT 610, and I still get lag during game play. I don't need the top of the line graphics, but I would like smooth game play without going over $100 for a graphics card.

Quick specs:
HP w1907 Wide LCD Monitor
Intel Core i7 CPU 860 @2.80 GHz
Windows 7, 64-bit OS
8GB RAM
500 GB hard drive (324 GB free)
Chicony 350 Watt power supply
DH57M01 YD0213 Motherboard

Anything else I can do besides driving back and getting something else?

the 610gt is the lowest of the low end gpus
the intel hd is about as good

with a unknown brand 350w psu, you can get a amd 7750 or gt 640
if you upgrade the psu to a cx430, you can get a amd 7850 or gtx 660/ti

or to a quality 600w psu, any single gpu

with $100usd to spend, a amd 7750 would be about the limit
PowerColor AX7750 1GBK3-H Radeon HD 7750 $94 shipped, and $30 rebate

GT 610 is for office PC's and really bad for gaming.
Get HD 7750, make sure it's the DDR5 memory version, it's faster then DDR3.
Should get it for $100 or less.
Cant use anything bigger with your small power supply.

you gotta pay to play as the old saying goes.......or be happy with lag and low settings.

200 dollar range for graphics cards is where you get the best bang for your buck(value).

Thanks for your replies. Went out and returned the GT 610 for a Dynex 520W PSU and a Radeon 7770 ultra overclock. Total was just under $110. Checked a list of GPU's that meet requirements for FFXIV ARR and all checks out. Here's hoping things all hash out.

You pay for the amp not the watt :)

amp and watt are relative with the same voltage

there's some youtube videos about reducing interface lag but none for in game lag.how about reducing some graphic settings?

The GTS 610 was NOT a upgrade to a AMD Radeon HD 5700 series card.

Additionally the HD 7770 would be a step sideays if your old card was a HD 5770 and only a very small step up if the old card was a HD 5750.

I would have advised saving more $ and not upgrading yet. You might score a HD 7790 for $99 if you were lucky but it isn't much better than a HD 5770.

Compare cards here from AMD and Nvidia. GFLOPS is a rough indication of performance.

For around the $170-$200 mark you can score a HD 7950 which would be have been a big upgrade. More than double a old HD 5700 GPU.
