GTX 660 SLI vs GTX 770 (or AMD equivalent)
Planning on building a new rig to go along side next gen and I was wondering what is the best choice. The 660 recently dropped in price and now you can find them for as low as $140. On the other hand its already considered to be dated hardware. So should I go with a 770 or one of AMDs new cards?
Im open to anysuggestion.

I don't know much about the SLI and the preformance difference.
But I'm quite sure that a high end single GPU is better than two lesser GPUs in SLI.
I would go for the single GTX 770

I would wait until the new AMD GPU's come out, and get the top of the line card, as supposedly it is better than a TITAN for around $500 or so.

I would go with GTX 770 2 Gb. 4 Gb if you plan to use more then one monitor.

Wait for R9 280X or bigger. :)

Will the new AMD cards use the same drivers? I heard that people have had some trouble with them.

They will most likely have new ones, if not, they will most likely release new drivers.

Note that SLI will always be the "more problematic" route to the same performance

Unless you already have a 660 and want to SLI for cost reasons that's fine

Just understand that you will be tweaking and praying for fixes and profiles for games. And screaming at devs who don't support SLI

It's a cost vs labor over time trade off

Choose wisely

Thanks, I never considered that. I might just go with a single gpu setup then.

Also, SLI will require a bigger/better PSU. So that's once less consideration.

In my opinion, it's always better to get a single good card as opposed to two mediocre cards. It just reduces the chances of things going wrong as well as lowering the power needed by your PSU.

It's listed at over $700 and leaked benchmarks show it being faster in some games, slower in others, dead even on the rest.

Nvidia is going to cut GPU prices when the 290x launches so buying a card right now is a terrible idea. Wait until the 16th.

They're supposed to be launching another GK110 product, rumors have it being the Titan Ultra and slashing prices on the current Titan, GTX 780, and GTX 770. We'll find out more during their conference on the 16th.
