My Laptop has some gremlins in ti and i cant find the specific issue. I hav run many virus checks with different sofware such as Kaspersky, GMER, McAffee, Malwarebytes and combofix and there is no viruses. Here are my specs

0301 - Card Name : Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000
0306 - Display Memory : 1760 MB
0307 - AdapterRAM : -1950351360 Byte

(note the graphics card can run source games and portal 2 on high quality no problem and i do not really play high end games such as battlefield on pc)

----------------------------------
06 - Motherboard

0601 - Model : K53E
0602 - Manufacturer : ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

0802 - Media Type : Fixed hard disk media
0803 - Size : 596.17 GB

(have C and D drives (Drive D contains steam and C has all my other programs ect))

The problems are as follows: SOMETIMES slow, Has difficulty hibernating, But these problems do not usally occur when my laptop is set up at my desk with all peripherals plugged in BUT they occur when pluged in at school.

ANY help appreciated other than Buy a new one. Personal Circumstances prevent purchase of a new laptop no matter how much i would like to.

First I would want to make sure you are not running multiple virus scanners at the same time on your pc, Web-based virus scanners not included.

You can watch what processes may be slowing down your pc by right-clicking the Windows Taskbar and opening the Task Manager. From here you can see the Processes and the Performance tabs. From the Processes tab you can watch what programs or services are eating up processing speed on your CPU, Memory and Disk . Click on one (CPU, Memory, Disk) to manage the Ascending or Descending order, you want to see what programs or services have the highest usage or may be affecting usage at the time of the problem.

Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer <-This will show you any Warnings, Errors, or Critical Events that your Windows OS may receive. Some of this is nothing to worry about but it may also give you insight into what may be wrong with your pc.

Is your laptop plugged in with power supply cord while you are at school? If not it may just have to do with Power Options in Control Panel. Laptop may be running in low-power mode while it is unplugged, running off of the battery.

Keep posting, let's see what you come up with.

I have minimal processes that eat up memory other than chrome which i turn off when gaming, the biggest is Steam at 195,220K (other high usage processes are system). I have looked into the processes before and that is not my problem. As for the virus scanners; no i am not using them at the same time.

Event viewer however is different, the biggest problem is the warning for Bonjour service which is spammed everywhere so i will try to fix that. here is razers view of bonjour:

At school for most lessons it is not plugged in and i accept the slower speeds. BUT when it is plugged in with power it is still slower than at home so i dont know what is going on there.

I just checked Can you run it [www.systemrequirementslab.com] and the only thing holding me back for BF4 MINIMUM is:

Features: Minimum attributes of your Video Card
Required You Have
Icon Pixel Shader version 4.0 4.1
Icon Vertex Shader version 4.0 4.1
Icon Dedicated Video RAM 512 MB 256 MB

So any help getting me more ram for my chip will help.

AND thats about it, if you need me to post the full razer diagnostics i have it next to me :)

EDIT BF4 reccomended is beyond me in video card shaders and ram, and os otherwise my laptop is up to it

EDIT2: i found a strange thing: when i tested video ram for portal 2 it came up with 1.7 GB fo me and 256MB when i tested BF4 weird

Do you use the Bonjour Service? It appears to be related to Apple iTunes, Safari, and Adobe Creative Suite and may have been installed with these programs.

More info on Bonjour : http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/45765/do-i-really-need-bonjour-on-windows

and how to uninstall it : http://arai.wordpress.com/2008/02/11/completly-uninstall-and-remove-bonjour-service-and-files-mdnsresponderexe-and-mdnsnspdll/

I don't know anything about playing BF4 since the game isn't out, except the Beta. Yeah those tests aren't always correct, especially with shared memory.

I Unfortunatly do use Bonjour to stream movies from itunes to apple tv and to steal my families music. So i do need it.

My graphics CHIP is an intergrated Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 using 256 MB of dedicated memory. What i want to do is upgrade it to at least 512MB of dedicated momory but to do that in need to do something in BIOS. I know it can be done because i have looked it up and seen people do it. BUT i am scared that i may ♥♥♥♥ up my pc because i do not have the knowlage required.

Do you know how to do the BIOS config with either the BIOS menu at pc startup or WINFLASH from asus?
Thanks

What is the exact make and model of your laptop, it should be on the bottom of your pc on a label.

BIOS can usually be reached by pressing F8 or Del (may be diff for you, check manual or it may say at boot) before Windows boots up. The BIOS setting to increase onboard RAM should be fairly obvious. Don't be afraid! BIOS settings can be reset by entering "Optimized Defaults" setting in BIOS.

Source engine is not that power hungry so it's hard to say if you'll be able to play BF4 on low settings.

I doubt you'll screw anything up. BUT, updating BIOS can screw up if you power down during the procedure. The setting should be obvious once you see it, to increase dedicated video memory. Take a look!

OK ill try if you do not see a reply from me in the next 30 min; i did something wrong

I went into BIOS and i could not find it, searching online for how to

Here is support page for ASUS X53E laptop : http://www.asus.com/au/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/X53E#support

Click Driver & Tools to find updated drivers and BIOS for your specific OS.

Your manual says F2 to enter BIOS.

*Warning I cannot be held liable with what you do with your PC. Updating BIOS can brick your PC!* Otherwise it is a very easy procedure and not all that scary! Just don't shut off or power down the PC while it is doing the update procedure!

These are what you need to update BIOS in Win7
Download BIOS -> BIOS Version 218
Download BIOS-Utilities -> Version V2.32.3

Unzip WinFlash_Win7_64_Z2323 and run the setup.exe. This is WinFlash from ASUS. Here is a short vid about it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wexf2veHqcY

Use the BIOS file K53EAS221.zip to update from the WinFlash Utility.

There may be more drivers or programs with available updates available from that page. Good Luck!

Increase onboard video memory setting in BIOS should be something like Frame Buffer Size, dedicated video memory, shared memory, Integrated Graphics Share Memory or something like it. I don't know that increasing it will really affect much in BF4.
Nipple Salesman Oct 2, 2013 @ 10:19pm
I will lok for it more carefully but here is what it says on different points:
systemrequirementslab: 256MB dedicated video Ram
graphics properties:
total Available 1760MB
Dedicated 192MB
idk how to change it i will give up after today
i need 512MB dedicated

I am using BF4 as a benchmark

Ok... there are 4 ways that i can get at least 512MB dedicated video ram
1. Get a new computer (too expensive, not allowed)
2. Mod my motherboard to use new graphics card (beyond me)
3. BIOS mod to get acess to card controls (cant find it)
4. overclocking (scary, what i read i dont think you can overclock my laptop)

Oh well, i guess i will remain a console gamer

Thoes options were not available, the bios for me only had boot options and security

That's a common limitation of pre-built systems. It's too bad you weren't able to get any further but with a limited budget and a few small jobs anything is possible!
$350 Budget PC : http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/build-your-own-budget-pc-overclocking,3623.html Cheers RETARTIST!

P.S. If you really want your pc to run fast you should reformat your Windows partition and avoid bloatware like iTunes and McAffee. The fewer programs running in the background the better! I suggest Avast Free Antivirus or Microsoft Security Essentials for an anti virus that doesn't consume so much processing power!
