how should I setup my gaming mouse?
I just got a new logitech G9 with 5000 DPI.

Basicaly I'm having a hard time controling it.

I don't know why but on 5000 DPI it moves very erraticly and is hard to control.

Around 800 is better for me. but I am having problems figuring out if I should use acceleration.

It seems like in FPS games I am getting a jittery or hard to control mouse. I don't really know what to do.

Can someone give me your tips of setting up your gaming mouse? Thanks.
P.S I play FPS the most.

When I used my G9 I had it set for the max DPI of 3200 (you have the newer G9X It hink) when in game and around 800-1000 when on the desktop. I do the same with my G400 mouse. I jsut used the DPI buttons to manually switch when I launched or quit the game.

Acceleration is generally bad but some people do like to use it.
Acceleration makes it much harder to learn since the amount the cursor moves on screen is tied to how FAST you move the mouse as well as how far you move the mouse.

I don't understand how you guys are doing this

If I put the DPI to 5000 and the speed down. It makes the controll very jittery. It is like I am on crack or have parkinsons or something

Around 800 is managable but I still am not accurate with that.

Am I missing some secret here? Thanks.

i use 400 dpi in game on fps no mouse acceleration but found tips online to use a tape measure to get movement same in every game. you measure how much to do a 180 degre turn then use in game settings you can ajust ps i got a rat 7 did same sort of thing turned out it was vibes on my desk because of duel laser more sensative so moved computer off the desk works fine now
I use 950 dpi, 1000 polling rate, acceleration off (enhance pointer off & markc windows fix) & the Razer Vespula Mouse Mat. It's important to have a good surface for the mouse to glide/track across.

Ok guys thanks for the tips. I think my main problem is that my old mouse was a 800 dpi optical and this is a 5000 dpi laser.

The laser behaves much different than the optical did.
