Microsoft Wireless 360 Controller Driver Issue
Hey guys,

I've just got a new rig and I'm running XP on it at the moment until I can get my hands on a copy of Windows 7. I've got a problem with the Microsoft Windows 360 Wireless Adaptor though, let me out line for you guys:

First off, its not an official Microsoft product, but in saying that - I've installed, and used it multiple times on my girlfriends Windows 7 machine and she uses it frequently to play video games herself on her rig.

Now, I've checked with google and as far as I can see from the official system requirements and from the posts of others, this device is compatable with Windows XP SP2 or greater, I have Service Pack 3 installed.

The problem: When I plug in the device, windows recognises it and asks me to install drivers, great. I've already downloaded and installed the Microsoft Xbox 360 accessories thing that it asks you to download which should contain the drivers, I've installed that no problem.
But alas, when I connect the device the wizard doesn't automatically pick up the drivers, to no surprise really as this happens on the Windows 7 computer as well. But what I usually do is select the "I will chose the correct driver from a list" or whatever the option is, and normally there's one called "Microsoft Common Controller" which then leads onto a small list which contains the Wireless 360 driver, or something along those lines on the Windows 7 machine.

Problem is on the XP machine this option isn't available in the driver selection list and I've been smacking my head against a proverbial wall for the last 3 hours or so trying to make it so.
Does any body have any experience with this matter on an XP machine that could shed some light on my situation? I'm really desperate to play some Dark Souls and I really don't want to have to use the keyboard for it.

Thanks in advance guys

Hey buddy,

Thanks for your reply but like I said in my above post, I know the method you're speaking of - but when I try to do it that way the Microsoft Common Class Controller (or whatever its called, I know its something along those lines) doesn't show in the device manager.
search google for drivers for the device.if you can't find for xp donwnload the win 7 driver and install it using compatibility mode(right click on the installer properties>compatibility windows xp
I've already installed the drivers from google, also: I'm using Windows XP SP3 - there's only the option to run in compatability with 95/98/2000. I don't think you read my opening post correctly buddy, thanks anyway but I think I'll wait for somebody else to chime in, cheers.
