GTX 660 TI vs GTX 760?
I have about a $300 budget to replace my OEM GT 640, and I'm debating over last-gen GTX 660 TI or a shiny 760. They both cost roughly the same and the 760 does outperform the 660 in pretty much everything, but the one thing holding me back is my PSU. It's a stock dell 460w PSU and the 760 suggests a 500w PSU, but from what I've heard people run similarly demanding GPUs on similar PSUs. My question is should I play it safe with the 660 TI, or should I be able to use the 760?

U should be able to use the gtx 760 but would i recomend doing is buying a new power supply with a higher wattage and more effiency so it can handle your higher end components better. Buy doing this it will only help u in the long run and future proff your system with any upgrades you may do in the future. If you have any other questions feel free to ask me I also am currently running an EVGA gtx 660 ti.

Ok cool, so out of curiosity is it the 660 TI Superclocked? That's the 660 I'm looking into and I'm wondering if the factory overclock is worth paying extra for.

GTX 660 Ti uses actually more power then GTX 760 because it's older tech.

And here is graphics card hierarchy table to help you pick graphic cards:

Factory overclocked cards usually have better quality heatsinks and fan solutions so it's actually worth it.
The Gigabyte GTX 760 I posted is factory overclocked.

ya the gtx 660 ti i have is not super clocked

Ya the gtx 760 is the newer version of the card 660 ti so yes it will not need as much power because it is new technology i recomend the evga gtx 760 superclocked version with acx cooling they are great cards or the msi version of the gtx 760 thats what I would go with either way its a great card for the price.

So from what I've gathered you guys are saying the 660 uses more power, but regardless I should try to get a new PSU? Because according to Nvidia the 660 TI uses 150w whereas the 760 uses 170w
Rumpelcrutchskin 2013 年 9 月 8 日 下午 6:03
You should get new PSU regardless since this Dell 460W PSU will probably put out even less watts then actually advertised, this thing is quite common with cheaper PSU's and some brands.
Also the graphics card power usage varies if you use higher resolutions and when you are gaming it will use more since it will work closer to their max ability.
That's why it's not good to cut it very close with PSU's. I always try to leave at least 100W spare elbow room, hence the 600W PSU I recommended.

Thats a good psu but i would still go with a higher wattage for now and it will leave more room for an upgrade maybe something like a 750 wat but not to much so that he can still get his graphics card to sometime

That PSU should last me a while, I don't really care too much about graphics just running a game is good with me, so with the PSU and a GTX 660 TI/ 760 I shouldn't worry about upgrading for a few years
Gianni 2013 年 9 月 8 日 下午 6:17
ya pretty much for u in this case yes tht is a good choice to go with

Thanks man! I bookmarked that page and I will keep it in mind. Thanks to you both, and jw, do either of you want keys for Dead Space, Medal of Honor, etc on Origin? They're left over from the humble bundle and no one seems to want them

That 600W Corsair can run any single card out there comfortably, 750W is more for SLI or when you want some high quality gold or platinum class PSU.
