ohh okay so when should i upgrade? and the psu is 500 watt standard
Try to get a better graphic card, and make sure the PSU is from a decent brand, such as Corsiar, Seasonic or XFX. Never cheap out on the power supply, since cheapo ones can damage your system.
which graphics card would you suggest me upgrade to?

So I'm confused.

Are you buying that $800 system and then upgrade it right away... or what?

Are you sure of the specs?

Make sure it is a quality PSU with at least; 80+PLUS Certified (Bronze or higher)

Otherwise I would strongly suggest a better GPU and PSU.
here's a site that does alot of homework & shows the best pc build for each level(low, med, high & extreme pc build). It lists the prices & explains why with the parts, etc. Hope this help you out alot. It's called build-gaming-computers dot com.
OP I would not buy that from your buddy unless you are wanting to pay him profit for building it for you. You can buy a nicer rig than that for the same or less cash if you build it yourself.

Here:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1A74C
Base Total: $845.90
Mail-in Rebates: -$65.00
Total: $780.90

This one uses some significantly better and more current parts and is $20 cheaper after rebates. What's a lot better in this one is the HD 7950 GPU with 3 free games in the bargain for example.

EDIT: oh wait I just read again "Windows 8". My build does not have Windows 8 so it would cost about $90 more or total $870 after rebates.

So ya he is offering a pretty nice deal as long as nothing is broken or badly used.

the amd 8120 processor doesnt actually have 8 cores..it utilizes hyperthreading which means it has 4 actual cores and 4 virtual cores and they share the same cache..you would be better off with a i5 intel processor..you dont need a i7 for gaming since games don't really use hyperthreading other then maybe total war and battlefield 3..

the 8120 has 8 cores, but 4 l2 banks that are shared with the cores

i5 would be better
i7 is more for multithreaded tasks, most games do not use over 4 threads
I would purchase a bare bone like they have on Tiger Direct or something. You can get an Intel I5, case, 4gb ram, 500 hardrive, and PSU for like around $500, then stick a 7970 for another $300 in that baby and Boom! There u go! Best part, you don't have to put everything together yourself, which is always a plus in regards to warranty if anything goes wrong. The only thing missing would be an OS.
tiger and newegg supercombos are poor choices too
sometimes they have incompatable parts or very weak components
most of the time you can get better deals elsewhere
