However for $600 a AMD APU notebook is probably going to be your best bet for gaming, however I recommend you try and find one with hybrid crossfire dual graphics.
Something like:

Or this:

That way you have a dedicated graphics card working in Hybrid Crossfire with the APU graphics and usually this will provide a good performance increase. If it's buggy in some games then utrn it off and use only the dedicated card.
These notebooks are probably near the best for the money but they will end up obsolete much faster than a desktop for near the same price.
Look here is a complete desktop system for under $700:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1yLkM
Base Total: $727.68
Combo Discounts: -$20.00
Mail-in Rebates: -$50.00
Shipping: $7.48
Total: $665.16
You could go cheaper but I would recommend this as being better value than that. It's also certainly much better value than the notebooks, the parts are better and higher performance and it's got real speakers, mouse and keyboard as well as a 23 inch 1920*1080 monitor.
You can the HP 15z-j000[www.gaminglaptopsjunky.com] which will get you a Radeon 8750M + 1080p screen + 6GB DDR3 for around $600.
If you live near a Microcenter, you have the N56DP option which might be better since you won't pay tax and shipping and get a backlit keyboard and an excellent laptop overall: Details for more options under 600[www.gaminglaptopsjunky.com]
