LGA 1150 CPU Fan, mobo opinons

I decided against the i7 3770k as it's actually going up in price (thanks Intel... NOT!) and are opting for the i5-4670K.

Also, considering this mobo[www.amazon.com] as it appears decent without being overly pricey:

Considering the Noctua NH-U14S at the moment, I want to avoid water cooling for the time being.

Current costs with 8 gigs of DDR3 is about $530. I already have a new case, resusing my hard drives, fans, GTX 560, have a 8 month old Corsair 600 watt CX series and cd drives.

But any suggestions on LGA 1150 Mobos and CPU fans?

Also, I have an older SSD SATA II, anyone who upgraded to a SATA III, can you notice the difference in load and boot times?

the nh-d14 is abuot the same price as the nh-u14s

Noctua NH-D14 I gotta request for the 1150 mount. Plus, it's a little more expensive.

Evo is about 20~25 degrees warmer on OC load.

I would recommend you NH-D14 but its really big in case and you must fit it onto your motherboard perfectly.But the cooling of NH-D14 is great and very low Db even under full load.I use it whith my i7 990X 3.8GHz its very good cooler.

I have the i5-4670k and LOVE my H55 cooler. I highly recommend it.

Yeah, I did some research on it. Gotta find a Mobo I like that's also qualified to fit with the D14. I hear the thing is a monster.

NH-D14 is pretty impressive with triple fans and yeah, it's a monster, so I wouldn't suggest high profile RAM or mATX mobo for it.

Otherwise, about the water cooling, if youre worried about leakages, pick up CM Seidon 120XL or 240M, both are closed loop systems and won't leak (unless you mangle the hoses somehow).

It's probably one of the best CPU air coolers out there, sure it's pricey, but it even outmatches the Thermalright Archon and NH-D14 as well, not to mention you don't need to mount the third fan.

Ah yes Noctuas 12cm fan is covering my rams you can use low-profile rams like G-skill ares maybe.And 1 more thing if you use custom chipset cooler Noctuas aliminium sides can hit and damage it, i had that problem whith my Rog cooler.

Some mobos have other issues. At least Noctua actually has a compatibility part of their website. But low profile RAM is a must for some. What I don't get is why the Vengence series of DDR3 went from $56 to over $71 in a few months on Amazin.

fyi, z87 is socket 1150, 3770k is socket 1155

Yes, I know. The D14 is originally designed for other sockets aside from 1150. Still, I'm going to wait a bit longer to see if I can snag a SATA III SSD for a little less.

D14 still cooler on load.

Plus, I'm not a fan of installing Zalman fans. Those blades have a bad tendency to cut your hands up. It was funny reading the Newegg reviews for my old one. Everyone mentioned they sliced their hands up. And it's true! You're lucky to get out of a Zalman install without losing at least a little blood.

hahah. All of these benchmarks are still showing the D14 as the best air cooler out there.

NH-U14S is delayed two months from Amazon shipping. But I'm in no rush.

Though you still can't go wrong with NH-D14 (if you have the mobo and ram for it).

Probably going to go with the D14. It's just that LGA1150 hasn't been out long enough for lots of builders to post reviews. The most reviews a Mobo on Newegg has is 26. The LGA 1155 reviews are way higher. I'm a bit skeptical on some of these mobos until the reviews start flooding in.

But boy, I'm due for one. Running a Core 2 Dual E7500 2.93 here. That's going 5 going on 6 year old processor. Still works fine though for most of my uses. But it will not handle Rome Total War II.
