Best budget controller for PC gaming?

I've been doing a lot of reading to try and find a good budget controller for the PC but I'm having a hard time chosing one.

The problem is that I'm looking for an affordable all purpose controller, but it seems that for a lot of controllers either the dpad is bad or the analogue sticks have deadzones.

Are there any controllers out there that have the best of both worlds?

any 360 controller will work on ported games

if you can find a used off brand one, it should have a better d-pad than the ms controllers
but their sticks will suffer

ms brand 360 controllers ahve good sticks, but their dpad sucks
not many games need a good dpad tho

I sometimes use my ps3 controller, good d pad, terrible analog sticks. I got it for free so might as well use it

Its really one or the other and it depends on the game.
