So Im in need of a new Modem and Router. My modem keeps resetting every 30 - 45 minutes and I cant tell whether the extreme heat in my house is the main factor (my AC broke). The modem is a Motorola SBV5122 and my router is a Netgear N600 WiFi Dual Band. My download Mbs is 17 and my upload speed is 5 Mbs. I was thinking about upgrading to a Netgear R6300 and a Motorola SB6121.

Any suggestions or Ideas?

those routers are good

pingbomb it overnight and see if it keeps the connecton for the router

start -> run/search -> cmd [enter]
ipconifg

find your routers ip address
your router ip is the gateway 195.168.x.1

ping 192.168.x.1 -t

wait overnight
hit ctrl+c to quit pinging it
it will give a report with min/max, average and lost
if the max is under 25ms and lost is 0 its not the router, but the modem

contact your isp and tell them what its doing they might send a replacement
