Did you remember to install the risers before the motherboard? Screwing it down directly to the case is bad! It needs to be up like 1/2 CM on the risers or else bad things!
Turn it off, take it apart, put it back together. Just leave the CPU in place unless you have spare thermal paste and feel like cleaning it off and applying new stuff.
If you don't find what is wrong then watch a bunch of build videos on a old computer, not the new one, to figure out what you might have done wrong.
Is your PSU good? What type/brand? Can you link it from where you got it? Could be a bad PSU burning also.
Can you provide system specs?
It could also be a defective part. Pretty much all parts can burn if something is wrong with them, if they are incompatible, misused or not installed properly.
Also, did you remove the plastic from the heatsink that protects the thermal past and keeps it fresh? If not then that is melting and a danger to go on fire.
It could even be something like a defective fan motor if you did it all right.
I have GTX 770 which runs at a temp of 40 C when playing games FX 8350 that runs at 20 C when playing games and my hardrive runs at 80 C when playing games
If possible try to find where the smell is coming from.
Brand new could still mean poor quality or incompatible.
For example a 125w CPU in a 95w motherboard could be lighting up your VRMs.
You could always open the case and watch for smoke but that means something is probably going to die while you watch it happen.
I'm just lazy! haha.
Yes, the psu is 600W the mobo surports 125W cpu's. it is the ; MA97 R2.0
Take it apart and figure out what's up if you have to.
Have you been overclocking at all? If so turn it back to stock.
Also make sure the case is well vented, has 2 or more good fans, hopefully at least 2x120mm. Make sure all the wires are well managed and not in the way of anything or touching any heatsinks or heatpipes.

cpuz -> about tab -> validation button -> submit button
itll open a browser, copy the url(address) and paste it here
also what brand and model power supply?
a quality 600w psu is fine with any single gpu
but a poor quality psu cannot output its rated wattage
PSU is; OCZ mod xtreme pro 600w
the board is good for 140w cpus
what cpu cooler are you using?
some have a plastic sticker protecting the bottom did you remove it before installing?
All wires are free.
Another thing, my friend has the same specs as me but he gets much higher frames than me on planetside 2?

Judging by the links, why does he get much higher frames than me?
If it's working. Then nothing actually got fried.
Answer above is how you tuning it and I bet you are not exactly alike.
We both have it on the same settings.
