Intel i7 3770k vs Intel i7 4770k
Hello,

I am looking on buying a new gaming rig soon and have been having some trouble picking out which cpu i should use for it. My choices are:

Intel® Core™ i7-3770K Processor ( Ivybridge )
(8M Cache, up to 3.90 GHz)

Or the

Intel® Core™ i7-4770K Processor (Haswell)
(8M Cache, up to 3.90 GHz)

I am looking for the cpu that will offer me better performance (mainly playing games) and have read some mix reviews on the haswell socket cpu's so thats why i'm asking here. I will be getting the Nvidia GTX 770 Gpu with the computer

Any advice is appreciated :D

The main advantages I hear about is that Haswell runs cooler and is more energy effiencent for laptops. Other than that not a significant increase in performance. You can probably find a Z77 system cheaper because retailers want to get rid of their older stuff and replace it with newer hardware.

In addition, Haswell actually uses more power than Ivy Bridge.
Intel put that crappy IGP that sucks up all the electricity.
If you already have a 3770k, their will probably be NO performance gain that is noticable to the naked eye. Maybe 5-10% in benchmarks, but that does not justify upgrading to a new CPU and Motherboard.
ivy overclocks better, but haswell has better stock performance

about equil in my book, til they improve haswells overclockability
