Is this Graphics Card Good Enough for Civilization V?
Is a NVIDIA Quadro K1000M fast enough to play Civ V at a medium or even high quality setting? Or should I get a higher grade graphics card? If so, what would be better?

It should probably be good for medium settings, possibly one or two on high. But it's not made for gaming, and is equivalent to a low-end gaming GPU.

You'll need a GeForce GTX 650 or higher to play this game with satisfactory performance.

If you want some reccomendations for low priced/High performing cards, i would reccomend either Radeon 7790 or the nvidia equivilant ( Although performs a bit lower) the gtx 650 ti. . These cards will also let you play other games on higher settings. I had the 7790 and i played like a 100 something hours on ultra of Civ V with almost no lag(Only when first rendering the map ) i would highly reccomend the 7790

A GTX 660 is fairly cheap ($200) and can handle any game you throw at it. It's as good as a Radeon HD 7870.

That mobile video chip is comparable to a GT720M

Since that's a mobile video solution, what other options do you have?

isnt a Quadro a workstation GPU? if so it probably wouldnt be the best choice for gaming. as far as im aware thats not what they are best used for.

Yeah its mainly for professional tasks, but im playing Civ V with it now and it works pretty well. Sure it cant run high quality for every setting but its good enough to not have to drop a few hundred bucks on a new card. I think ill keep my Quadro for now, but thanks everyone

You deffinatly don't NEED that. I've seen people play this on medium with a 9600GT just fine.

'just fine' is relative. The game in general is fairly hardware intensive. Will it run with less than a gtx 650? of course. Will it meet your eye-candy requirements? Who knows. I'd go for a radeon 7xxx series over a quadro.

Quadros are made for CAD and do not utilize DirectX very well. I found some passmark tests and the results were ~18% of what a HD7870 returned (800 & 4,247 respectively). I wouldn't think that it could be able to play it on medium...low, maybe

Civ V is more CPU intensive than GPU intensive so make sure you have at least an Intel i5 (AMD CPUs won't cut it in this)
