Alienware vs Asus vs Msi Gaming Laptops
Hello all,

I am trying to figure out what laptop to buy. I have come across 3 choices of laptops.
Alienware M17x
Intel i7-4700MQ
750gb 7200RPM
16GB 1600mhz DDR3
NVidia GeForce GTX 780M 4gb
17" Full HD Matte LED 1920 x 1080
$2750 or R26999

Asus G750
17.3" Full HD Screen
Core i7-4700HQ
16GB RAM
1TB HDD + 256GB SSD
3GB Nvidia GTX770M
$2445 or R23999

MSI GT70
Intel i7-4700MQ
17.3" Full HD Anti Reflective
NVidia GeForce GTX 780M 4gb
12Gb RAM
1TB HDD
Blu-ray
$2598 or R25499

Which one would you recommend between the 3?
I don't care about it being overpriced. I care about the performance, cooling and longevity of the machines.

Go for the Asus G750 Save the money there is not much diffrence between all of them.
Skip the Alienware. There's no reason to pay more money for it. You're not going to get substantially better performance. Asus & MSI are both good computers. I have an MSI GT 70 & love it. Never had any problems with it. I've never had an Asus, but I've heard good things about them as well.

The anti-reflective screen on the MSI is super nice, and the video card is a little better, but you've got more hard drive space and bigger RAM with the Asus. Either one is probably good.
I think that the Alienware is the best "package": it has the sturdiest chassis, best warranty, most performance and upgrade options, the best stock screen, and it competes with the ASUS in cooling. Its main problem is mediocre quality control; if you live in the US, customer service is OK.

Try haggling for the Alienware: you should get at least 10% off with little effort.

I have the asus. build quality is very good, and the design is much more discrete than the other two. But I'm not kidding myself, the 780m is a good 40-50% more powerful than the 770m and should be much more future-proof for this generation of games. However there's no point getting a futureproof laptop that will break quickly and the MSI develops VERY high temperatures which cannot be good for the hardware. In any case, that price for the asus is far too high. If you can find it cheaper, go for that one. Otherwise, get the MSI but be ready for heat and noise.

I just have to chip in and say I have no problems whatsoever with my MSI overheating. It's been far cooler than any other laptop I've had, and it has some great fan controls for long gaming periods. Just throwing that out.
Brand does not matter as much, but the best for the money with at least a 1 year warranty.
Don't go for the Asus, It has a lot slower GPU, and a GB less Vram.
The alienware has overclocking options, and modded bios support from forums.
The Msi is about the same as the alienware, exept MSI tends to use lesser quality Heatsinks.
If the 780M is that much better I would rather then leave the Asus. The prices are so high because I live in South Africa and our currency is up to ♥♥♥♥. Haha. The main reason I'm getting a new laptop is because of overheating problems on my HP and secondly performance. So when I hear about people complaining about overheating on the MSI then I would rather go for the Alienware. Our daily temperatures go up to high 30's celsius. Asked around on some local forums and got some votes for the Alienware as well. Only gonna buy the new one next week so wouldn't mind more comments. Thanks for the help so far.
I don't know how good Dell's support is in South Africa. Not that I expect ASUS and MSI to have better support, but that's something to look into.
Do you really need a laptop?

The msi and the alienware have 780ms. I would say get a gaming desktop comp and a cheap laptop instead.
Asus in my opinion better due to the lower price but comes with SSD which will make a noticable diffrence.
Get the MSI. Its awesome. I have a friend that has one and says its good on the go too. plus, if it has the dragon design you'll make everyone jealous.
ASUS or MSI, Aliendell hasnt been worth it for quite a few years now.
