Should a get a haswell CPU or wait for Broadwell CPU's?
Whats your opinion everyone? I need a new computer with powerful specs but to last long, however is haswell pointless? should i just wait for the next generation CPU?

Wait for Broadwell since that will be a 14 nm architecture.

Depending on your actual rig... If you own a Pentium D, you should change it now. If you own an i7, you don't really need it.
Waiting because there will be a newer architecture, has no sense. A newer architecture is released every year, so the next one, a newer one will be anounced. Why don't wait again for it?
Change your computer when you need a power increase, not when a number looks greater.

Not sure if this goes with what you're saying though.
I have an i7 4770k and I love it.

Deppends, I don't see a logical reason to release Broadwell anytime soon because AMD is reaaaally taking it's time with 22nm gen.
So I'd agree with Riwels, it all deppends on what rig do you currently have.
There's always something new around the corner. Get something that works well now or you never get anything.

If you have Sandy or Ivy, no need.

Exactly. Key is to buy what you need now and buy SMART so you dont have to upgrade for a few years. Unless you have lots of money to burn and HAVE to have the best hardware available at all times.

If your PC is ancient now and isnt doing what you need or want then upgrade. But something newer and better is ALWAYS coming.
I work in the industry Broadwell is a long wait. you want something now get Haswell. If you already have Sandybridge or Ivybridge i7 you don't need an upgrade.

I agree.
Broadwell reportedly isn't due out until 2015. I think it would be silly to wait that long if you're already considering an upgrade now.

Don't wait; buy now.

The next big upgrade will be skylake with ddr4 in 2015. Broadwell is going to be laptop only.
IMHO, don't buy either. Haswell/Broadwell offer/will offer very little gain over ivy bridge. Save time. get an ivy bridge. OR wait for skylake.
Haswell and Broadwell use the same motherboard and socket. Buy the x770K processors no matter what for the "normal" i7 releases. They are the fastest ones. And any of them being laptop only processors is total wrong.

the i7 adds hpyerthreading
no diff in games that do not use it

if your doing video editing, rendering, or encoding, then the i7 will make a bigger difference
