F710 logitech vs 360 controller?

Thoughts and opinions on both controllers as to why youd prefer one over the other.
Personally i love the feel of the ps3 controller. from the layout to the button clicks and positioning, its all nice. Would the f710 be a decent steam controller for games where it seems easier to use or is there a noticable lag in response time and other things of that nature?
ie: Dark Souls, etc.

Just bought a gaming pc and went for 360 wired one 18.99 spot on alot lighter than the ones with battery packs and easier to hold with no battery pack so dont rule it out. Dirt3 left for dead and street fighter have been spot one. Sorry can give any views on the f710

Thanks for the input regardless. My friend has the 360 remote and says its fine. while i used to own a 360 and have a feel for the remote i still like the normal side by side analogs vs the reversed positioning. At least i know that one is cheap and pretty decent. Now... as far as the f710, new waters for me. Steam put it on blast so much though i was thinking there has to be something good about it.

I came from the the 360 a few years ago, playing on a PS controller with the stick layout was always uncomfortable for me, the thumbstick is better and faster through menu's than the keypad making the placement of it pointless. I don't really use a controller anymore but when I do it's either 360 layout or nothing, I got a Razer Onza awhile ago, adjustable weight thumbsticks are nice, as are the mouse button like XBAY keys and the extra shoulder buttons(it has 4 of them) are welcome but it has it's problems. Its too light which makes it feel cheap, it isn't really but it feels that way. The thumbsticks lack sensitivity and the extended curve on the triggers(added appearently to aid in rapid fire) is too extreme, if it were a more shallow curve it would be much better. Aside from all that it's a bit pricey so I wouldn't get it as there isn't anything wrong with a Microsoft 360 controller, they are very well built, tough, have a good weight, the sticks and triggers are responsive and the buttons are smooth. I would avoid 3rd party knockoff's as they are often crude and cheap, especially anything by madcatz. Avoid gimmicy ones with lights and the like as things like that are only there to distract you from bad build quality and material.

As far as logitech goes you can NEVER go wrong with them I have a G27, Extreme 3D pro, K360, G700, H600, and a Z523 and I've never had any problems at all with build quality or malfunctions. Plus thier prices are fair, their build quality is fantastic even on their inexpensive products and thier customer support is legendary.

I am currently researching this as well.

I currently own the old Logitech Rumblepad 2, but have had compatibility issues with newer games since the Rumblepad 2 uses Direct Input instead of Xinput. Xbox Controller = Xinput. Logitech F-Series have a toggle to switch between Direct Input and Xinput.

I bought a F310 (wired no rumble version) and am waiting for delivery to try out. If it works well I'll likely purchase an F710.

From what I've read, if you plan on playing fighting games or otherwise dependent on a reliable D-Pad, I've heard to avoid the 360 controller, as its D-Pad is ♥♥♥♥ and the F-Series is supposedly better.

Hmm considering i have logitech porducts as well I do know of their reliability and will take all this into account. While I do hear everything is pretty perfect for the 360 controller that is the one thing i hear sometimes. Just the dpad problem. But i also hear depending on how many things you have at home to be careful bc the wireless f710 can get interference which is kinda But they answer this with adding a device to it or something of the sort that makes it fine. As far as responsiveness i hear it's fine and that if you switch it to Xinput it actually thinks it's a 360 remote and if you switch it back to the Dirct input it acts as itself. Blegh i dunnoall the details. I want to find out all these pros n cons to both.

The F710 is a great controller. I used one for a few months and my only problem was I like the 360 controller shape more than the PS3. Otherwise I would still be using it.

It's all a matter of taste. If you like the ps3-4 layout go logitech. If you like the xbox layout, go the xbox pc controller way. I have both the wired 360 controller and the logitech f310 (wired version 710) and it's generally good. The only minor issue is the the analog triggers are a bit stiff, but not unmanagable. Both controllers have a good Dpad, buttons and analog sticks.
