What parts do I need to build a desktop?

I'm lookin to buy from newegg for the and build a computer for the very first time. What are ALL components do I need?

I know you need-

CPU
Power Supply
Motherboard
GPU
Memory
Hard Drive
Computer Case

What else would I need? Any tips on how to use newegg? Thanks

About the only thing I'd add to your list is an optical drive. Other than that, I think you have everything.

My suggestion for a first time builder would be to play around with, assuming you're in the US, pcpartpicker.com. Start off by selecting your processor which will narrow down the number of motherboards, narrowing down the RAM, etc.

Also, if you're dead set on Newegg, there is an option to narrown your parts down to those on Newegg. The only problem with sticking with one store is your total price will almost assuredly be higher than using numerous. When I built my PC a few months ago, I ended up going through Microcenter, Newegg, PC Outlet and Amazon.

Fx 8350 + gtx 760-770 + (Seasonic corsair antec 600w + psu) windows 7 64 ! ( ram 1600mhz 1866mhz at least 6gb and max 12gb) dont abuse on that.. 4gb is still enough for gaming lol... Motherboard uh asus sabertooth the only one i trust on amd side :)

asus amd sabettooth is way overpriced, there are other boards just as good, just avoid msi
m5a97 r2 is a good cheap board
if you need sli, asrock extreme3/4 or asus m5a99x are good

but id take the i5 3570k over the fx8000s
about the same price, and you can get a much cheaper board

Ya you'll need a dvd/cd drive,win 7 or 8 oem and an aftermarket hsf like cm212+ or evo.

I guess you're re-using your old case if not you'll need one of those too?

Another intel fanboy let look at benchmark of game using multi core and all the new amd console.. so put the intel i5 crap were i think score 6k while the 8350 score 9k... and yea the asus board you show is good i was just not sure of the model and almost all other board the 100$ gigabyte is crap too.. msi too... Stock heatsink is enough... sabertooth is the best board and the more reliable and is not overprized for a 5 years warantly.....

and fx 8350 doest bottleneck 3 ways sli 680 so :P

4gb and i play bf3 maxed with 3.8gb usage with ( 2 iexplorer page open steam xfire origin log me in teamspeak 3 skype msi afterburner and windows media i think it ok 6

m5a97 r2 i know it a good board it probably my future backup pc with fx 6300 overclocked to 4.5.. it a good overclocking board too

you want dual channel ram kit
dont need to be a server to make use from it

2x4g kit is recomended for most builds

Because you don't lop side the ram, you can't get 6GB and 12GB in even pairs, you're quoting i7 9xx triple channel set up.

I strongly support amd cpus but even I know x3 680s is gonna choke on the FX8xxx line

Look at benchmark with 3dmark and overclock.net yea you will not have the required cpu power to reach high fps but still the 3 gpu can work at 100% without bottleneck...

You support amd and your dont know that there new cpu out im almost sure :P ok stupids 220w cpu

Hes even into the top 10 of the heaven benchmarks and the only 8350 user in there.
