The standoffs arnt fitting insinde th emotherboard am i meant to apply pressure to do the motherboard?

Elaborate on what kind of stand off ie plastic cone shaped pos push pin style or brass nut like with threaded bolt end.

The motherboard is supposed to rest -on- the standoffs after you have it properly positioned in the back. You can apply pressure to the back of the case so the motherboard fits with the io shield, not on top of the motherboard.

its resting on them, how do i lock it in place

be sure to only use the standoffs that fit the hole locations on the motherboard
only 6 for the m5a97 boards

ty, the problem i had is that i thought the standoffs are meant to got through the holes in the mothrboard

Yes, it's the HDD indicator.

ty, i also have both hd audio and ac97, i only plugged the hd audio is that fine?

yep, if the board supports hd audio, use that insted of the other audio connector

ty it finally booted and im on win7, how ever it selsects my onboard graphics instead of my 7870, what should i do, i tried looking in the uefi bios couldnt find anything
